Miranda Cornelisse is a researcher and senior lecturer at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. Her work focuses on creating visitor economies that contribute to broader wellbeing—putting livability, social cohesion, and local vitality at the center.
In the project Visie Verbeeld, Miranda explores how tourism and recreation can support a resilient and meaningful economy in Rotterdam’s Feijenoord district. Together with residents, entrepreneurs, and policymakers, she works on an approach that fits the neighborhood—dynamic, raw, and full of character. Not driven by top-down growth targets, but built from within, based on trust and equality.
