Veroniek Maat

Researcher

Veroniek Maat has worked as a project manager for the New Urban Tourism professorship and now works as a researcher for the professorship. She is currently doing research on tourism and inclusion, focusing on tourism accessibility for people with disabilities. As project manager, she dealt with both practical and substantive grant applications regarding regenerative tourism, placemaking and living labs. Veroniek has worked as a learning coach for the Tourism Management course at Inholland and from 2010 to 2020 she was founder and owner of the inbound tour operator called Accessible Travel Netherlands. She has worked on about 8 projects funded by EU or national funds or foundations since completing her Master’s degree in Leisure, Tourism and Environment at Wageningen University, all with a focus on tourism and inclusion. Through running a tourism company and initiating and working on various projects, she has extensive knowledge of destination development and interventions aimed at promoting social inclusion
